Animals

Noah's Ark is home to several adorable mini horses, friendly pigs, and a gentle donkey. They all share a habitat together which we lovingly call the Motley Crew.

Pigs
Noah’s Ark has several different kinds of pigs that live inside our Motley Crew Area. Pigs are very intelligent, sociable and full of different personalities animals. They live in large family groups and can survive in a wide range of different environments. They have large heads, short necks, bristly coats and short tails. Pigs are omnivorous and will literally eat anything. Rooting is normal behavior, where they use their snout for a variety of different reasons. They will use their snout for searching for food, to cool off, to push things repeatedly and to communicate. Pigs love to mud wallow, to help regulate their body temperature. They will cover their skin with mud to cool down.

Miniature Donkey
Miniature donkeys are small equines that are naturally small. Very friendly, intelligent, docile and loves attention. Their lifelong proper care, donkeys can live an average of 30 years. They communicate by braying a sound “hee-haw.” Donkeys are grazing herbivores. They require good quality hay and fresh clean water. Their primary food is grass, but they also graze other shrubs and plants. You should closely monitor so they are not overfed.

Mini Horse
A miniature horse is a breed or type of horse characterized by its small size. Miniatures height is 34 inches in height or less. They weight between 150 – 250lbs. There is a wide range of colors and patterns. In warmer months their coats are thin to keep them cool in the heat and humidity. In the colder months their coats get thick. Their temperament and social interaction make them popular companion animals. They have an excellent sense of sight, hearting and smell. The life span of miniature horses is from 25 -35 years old. These animals thrive grazing in open grassy fields and in captivity can be supplemented with hay and horse food. For enrichment, feed is scattered through the Enclosure which allows them to eat slower and provides a bit more foraging.
